Yunnan Williams Heirloom Green-Skin Bananas – Tree-Ripened & Naturally Sweet
Experience the authentic taste of Yunnan with our Williams Green-Skin Bananas. Unlike mass-produced commercial varieties, these heirloom bananas are prized for their exceptional sweetness and unique "soft and waxy" texture. Harvested from mature trees, they are shipped in their green state to ensure they arrive at your door without bruising, allowing you to manage the final ripening process for peak freshness.
Key Benefits
- Authentic Heirloom Variety: The Williams cultivar is an "old variety" celebrated for a deeper, more complex flavor profile than standard supermarket bananas.
- Tree-Ripened Quality: These bananas are allowed to mature on the tree to reach optimal sugar levels before being harvested, ensuring a superior taste.
- Superior Texture: Once fully ripe, the fruit offers a signature soft, creamy, and "waxy" mouthfeel that melts in your mouth.
- Natural Sugar Accumulation: High sugar content is a hallmark of this variety. You may notice small cracks in the skin—this is a natural sign that the fruit’s internal sweetness has surpassed the skin's growth rate.
- Preservative-Free: We prioritize your health by avoiding artificial ripening agents or heavy preservatives during the shipping process.
Key Specs
- Variety: Williams Heirloom (Green-Skin type).
- Origin: Yunnan, China.

How to Use & Ripening Guide
To enjoy the best flavor, these bananas must undergo a brief "de-astringency" and sugar-conversion process after they arrive.
For Cold Weather (Below 59°F / 15°C):
- Keep the bananas and the protective padding inside the original plastic liner bag.
- Semi-seal the bag and place it in a warm indoor area (near a heater or in an air-conditioned room).
- Allow 3–5 days for the fruit to soften and naturally ripen.
For Warm Weather (Above 59°F / 15°C):
- Check the fruit upon arrival. If they feel soft to the touch or show a slight yellow tint, they are ready to eat.
- Note that these bananas can be fully ripe and sweet even while the skin remains green.
- Remove them from the plastic bag, wipe away any condensation, and store them in a cardboard box at room temperature.
Care & Safety
- Temperature Sensitivity: Do not store in drafty areas or places with heavy airflow, as wind exposure can cause the skin to dry out and turn black before the fruit ripens.
- Storage: Keep in a warm, stable environment during winter to ensure the starches convert to sugar properly.
- Appearance: Natural cracking or minor skin blemishes are normal for this heirloom variety and do not affect the quality or safety of the fruit.
Notes
"Green skin turns yellow" as the fruit reaches its peak maturity and sweetness.
