How to Use
This clay pot is designed for use on gas stovetops. It is not suitable for induction, electric, or ceramic cooktops.
1. **Seasoning (First Use Only):** Before your first use, it is essential to season the pot to seal the porous clay. Fill the pot about 80% full with water, add a scoop of leftover cooked rice or a few tablespoons of cornstarch, and simmer on low heat for about an hour. Let it cool completely, discard the contents, and rinse gently.
2. **Cooking:** Always ensure the exterior bottom of the pot is completely dry before placing it on a burner. Start with low heat and gradually increase to medium. Avoid high flames that extend up the sides of the pot.
3. **Handling:** Use oven mitts, as the pot and lid will become very hot.
Care & Safety
Temperature Shock:** To prevent cracking, never subject the pot to sudden temperature changes. Do not place a hot pot on a cold or wet surface, and do not pour cold liquids into a hot pot.
Cleaning:** Allow the pot to cool down completely before washing. Hand wash with warm water and a soft sponge. Avoid using harsh detergents or abrasive scrubbers, which can damage the clay.
Storage:** Dry the pot thoroughly, both inside and out, before storing it in a well-ventilated area to prevent mildew.
